 “Mattel is the gold standard”

I found an interesting article from the NYT, written only a month ago, but before the big Mattel recall.  A second recall, of unprecedented proportions, is set to be announced by Mattel later today. If they are the gold standard, I would hate to know who holds the silver and bronze.
